The quilt is finished!

I finally finished Sarah's quilt. My finger tips are raw. I found that surgical tape works wonders to protect the fingers and towards the end I was using double layers of tape. Now on to my next project! The dress.

Sarah's Placemats

With everything I have been doing lately I thought I'd add placemats to my plate. I started making this placemat for my daughter (I finished making a set of four last night). She is getting married the end of next month. I had some leftover fat quarters. The internet is so wonderful. I was able to google placemat tutorials and I came up with all kinds of examples. If I get time I’ll try and make some more.

This is an apron I received from my swap partner in December. The embroidery is Welsh for Merry Christmas. I just love it. If you couldn’t guess I’m Welsh. I’m looking forward to 1 March, AKA St. David’s Day. I’m planning on doing a dragon day with my students that day. Or at least the closest school day to it.

February Apron Swap

Over the last year I've made aprons for an apron swap one of my sisters has done. This is just the latest apron I made. The last two times my swap buddy was somebody who loves the color red. As far as I'm concerned red is the only color.

Sarah's quilt

I've started a new project. It is well out of my comfort zone. The sewing part won't be that difficult. It's the color combinations. Sarah loves orange! I'm not an orange person. I prefer deep dark red. Here is a link to the tutorial for Sarah's quilt. We picked out different several fat quarters of oranges, yellows, and blues. I hope my quilt turns out as good as the picture above.

Indigo Ocean

This is a quilt that I just finished for my brother, Sam and his wife, Miyuki. Miyuki is from Japan. Several months ago I called her and asked her what her favorite color was. I think the quilt turned out very nicely. I hope they like it. It has a heavy dark blue flannel backing which I found very soft and warm as I had the quilt spread out over me as I was finishing the binding.

When I fly out to Missouri this week, where they live, I will be taking it with me. I’ve stuffed it into a carryon bag. And unless Sam and Miyuki look at this blog they won’t know it’s coming.

When Faith Edures

I will not doubt I will not fear,
God's love and strength are always near,
His promised gifts help me to find
An inner strength and peace of mind.
I give the Father willingly, my trust, my prayers, humility.
I give the Father willingly, the spirit guides, His love assures,
that fear departs when faith endures I will not doubt I will not fear,
God's love and strength are always near, when faith endures
