While hiking in the mountains last summer I found two sego lilies blooming. I had thought they were all extinct. It has been 20 years since I have seen one. They are the state flower where I live. I think they are so beautiful that I had one of my children make a Celtic design in a stain glass window for the sky light of the front entry in my house.
At the top of this building are three doors. Above the doors are three bas relief sculptures. The first is the ascending God, The Father. The second is the descending God, The Son. And the third is blank, The Holy Ghost. Imagine this space packed with homes, markets, and people. Picture daily routines and children running and laughing. This photograph is right on the beach. I found the rocks, plants, and sand especially lovely.
This sculpture was on the corners of a building. At first I didn’t see the carvings. It wasn’t until I came back a second time did I actually see the images. Below is the complete building. All of the buildings in Tulum were adorned similarly with carvings.
