My Little Green Bag

My daughter in law was able to buy several of the little green bags at an incredible price. She gave us each one and said we needed to turn them into some kind of a kit. This project needed to be finished by the end of January. Well January’s end is coming soon and I need to get busy!



This is my Flower Fairy Kit! I have several Flower Fairy books. My grandkiddies love Flower Fairies. I also added a small kit of how to make Flower Fairies.

This one is Gran’ma’s craft kit. It started out a crown making kit. It has glitter felt, glitter, fabric and craft glue, Velcro, elastic, jewels, and very stiff Pellon. Then I found some Playdoh and some colored pencils.



The last kit is Gran’ma’s babysitting kit B. It has some soft farm animals, books with puzzles, board books, a Curious George puzzle, and a My Granny’s Purse.



I also want to make a picnic kit but it's not a good time to go looking for picnic plates, cups, and flatware. I'll have to wait until spring to buy those things.

Paper Dolls

Several months ago I bought some fabric with paper dolls all over them. After mounting them on some kind of very stiff backing I've started cutting them out. Now all I need are for some little girls or boys to come and visit their Granny. Hint! Hint!

The Last Flower Fairy!

Over the years I've bought or some my children have purchased flower fairies for me. To day I went to the local store that sells them. I had heard that they were going out of business. When I got there this was the only flower fairy that was left. I was hoping to have one fairy for each grandchild. I'm going to have to see if there is another place where I can purchase fairies in the future.

These are all the other fairies that I have collected over the years. I've looked on the internet for more. I found that several of the fairies that I own have been discontinued.

This is the Place State Park

This weekend the state where I live will be celebrating 163 years since the pioneers were driven from their beautiful city on the Mississippi River and arrived here in Utah. I took two of my grandchildren with me for a little Utah history lesson.

In about 1927 my father lived in this house. At that time the house was located about 700 east and I80. About 15 years ago the house was cut up and moved to the mouth of Emigration Canyon.





This is the first LDS Academy built in Provo. I have a vague memory of seeing this building in downtown Provo. It didn't look this good. Later a new academy was built on University Avenue in Provo. When I was in high school I went to the 2nd Academy building which was called BY High. Now that building has been come the Provo City Library. Both buildings were the beginning of BYU. Yes and I went to BYU.




The girls and I both agree that the next time we go it won't be in the middle of July. IT'S TOO HOT!

There's a monster in my closet... or is it under my bed!

When my children were small they would worry about monsters in their closet or under their bed. Nothing I seemed to say would calm their fears. Then one day I read about "Monster Repellent." The recipe for monster repellent goes as follows.

1 squirt bottle
water
a bottle of scent (the cheaper the better)

Fill the squirt bottle with water and pour in some of the scent. Then spray the monster repellent around the child's room. On the bed, under the bed, in the closet, or any other place the monster likes to hide. The child will smell the repellent and remember that it is working keeping them safe.

The other day I had a student come to school crying and frightened by some monster he had seen on tv. I didn't have any repellent at school so I pulled out some glow gel that I use when teaching the children about washing hands. Anyway I put some of this gel on his hand and then flashed a black light on it. I told him that the gel would kill any monsters that came within a mile of him. I haven't had a problem since with his irrational fears.

Making Soap With Gran'ma

I have been threatening to make soap with my granddaughters for a year now. I finally said lets do it. I buy the soap noodles from Soap Crafters and then melt them down and make my own soap. I really like this kind of soap. It lathers up and doesn’t make my skin itch. I use 12 oz. juice cans for molds. They really make a nice bar of soap when cut. The down side to making your own soap is waiting while the soap cures for three months. The longer the soap cures the harder it gets. The harder the soap the longer the bar lasts.

Flower Fairies

Today I had three of my grandchildren over. This morning we made flower fairies. I've been trying to make fairies with them for three years now. Every time I have some of the grandkiddies over we run out of time. This time though We have all day.

Now if some of my other grand children want to make a flower fairy, come on over. I've got lots and lots of stuff all ready to go!

That night when Spencer said his prayer he prayed that his fairy would love him forever. As long as his grandma loves him his fairy will love him. I think that will be forever and ever.
